Hmmn, discuss if you will the following:
Does watching the weather forecast help or hinder your living?
Some Look-sey thoughts. When I give an ear to the weather forecast I do not feel equipped, in-fact hasn't the day's course been, in-part, defined before it has been lived. "Tomorrow will be wet so I can't..." There are 2 broadcasts at the end of our local news- back-to-back, tell me, are we that fanatical about the regional variations? There will be lots of you that will not agree with this personal stance, you will prefer to know, to plan accordingly and not be caught out by the eventualities.
I agree there are advantages on specific occasions BUT may I encourage you in the week that follows to go back to our Edwardian roots, pick-up your umbrella and apply sun-cream to your face in the morning (as we all should anyway) and 'be prepared' but not pre-prepared. Let the day happen, get caught in a rain shower once in a while- you will giggle and warm-up with hot choc, how can that be bad weather?
Your thoughts?
5 years of working in the outdoors has taught me that you can't be prepared for all eventualities. What you can affect is your attitude while you're out there. The best activity sessions are actually those where it rains so hard that there is no part of you left dry and everyone reaches the point of 'you can't get wetter so lets go for it'. God blessed us all with 1.skin - the most advanced protective layer known to man that provides a level of waterproofing/breathability way beyond any technical advances and 2. an ecological and sustainable personal central heating system that adapts to the most extreme circumstances. I'm not about give up clothes for good (the mountains can be a little harsh) but you got to admit that the original is always the best.
ReplyDeleteI hardly ever watch the weather - very Un-British I know. This does fairly often result in me wearing flip-flops in the rain and thick jumpers when its sunny. I should perhaps at least open my curtains before I get dressed so that I can at least vaugely gauge my clothes!!
